Children's Choirs

Through involvement in children’s choirs, the youngest in our church community build a foundation of musical knowledge and faith development, enhancing other aspects of their Christian education. The choirs also provide a pool of peers that fosters friendship and a sense of acceptance into the larger "Family of God."

Programs are on offer for every age group and all ability levels. If you are interested in joining, or learning more about these choirs, please contact James Kealey (Associate Director of Music/Organist)

Glorious Voices (Preschool to 1st Grade)

(Rehearsals are postponed during Covid-19)

Singers experience a multi-activity, multi-sensory program designed to introduce early-elementary children to basic musical ideas through games, movement, and songs. Emphasis is on exploring the voice, pitch matching, developing musical sensitivity, and having fun with music. The choir sings in worship about 2-3 times each year, including at the Nativity service on Christmas Eve and on Easter Sunday with the Junior Choir. Additionally, they take part in the children’s musicals.

Junior Choir (Grades 2-5)

Wednesday 5:30pm - 6pm

(Online during Covid-19 Pandemic)

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we will be offering Junior Choir online until it is safe to return to in person activities and worship.

Rehearsals expand on the musical foundation of our younger choirs, and singers learn musical terminology and healthy, age-appropriate vocal technique while exploring warm-ups, anthems, introits, and hymns throughout the program year. The Junior Choir takes an active role in worship leadership, singing each Sunday at the 10:45am worship service during the program year. In addition, the Junior Choir offers several special programs, including a spring children’s musical in even numbered years, and serves as the primary musical leadership group for the Nativity service each Christmas Eve.

Jubilee Ringers (Grades 2-5)

(Rehearsals are postponed during Covid-19)

This bell choir directly precedes the Junior Choir Rehearsal on a Wednesday, allowing children to develop as musicians in numerous ways. This choir works on mastering basic bell technique, and presents 2 or 3 pieces in worship over the church year. All are welcome, and previous experience is not necessary.

Children’s Musicals

Children's Musicals have been a long-standing tradition at Third Church, and occur every two years. They offer a creative way for children to deepen their knowledge of biblical stories through singing and acting. The children can then in turn share their interpretation of these stories with the congregation in a worship setting.
