Lynette K. Sparks

Lynette Sparks

Lynette Sparks joined the Third Church staff in February 2013 as Associate Pastor for Outreach and Evangelism, and in August 2019 took on the additional role of Acting Head of Staff until an interim pastor is named. From 2010-2013, she served as pastor at Wrights Corners Presbyterian Church in Lockport, and from 2002-2007 served in several Christian education roles at North Presbyterian Church in Williamsville, NY. Prior to her service in the church, Lynette worked in the corporate world — first as an accountant for Deloitte & Touche in Minneapolis and later as a financial analyst for General Motors in their Detroit headquarters.

Lynette received her M.Div. from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in 2009. She also holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting from Augustana University in her home state of South Dakota, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business.

Committed to the idea that we are to be a "sent-out" church seeking justice and compassion in the world, Lynette has a heart for connecting with people no matter where they are in their spiritual journey. She co-founded ROC SALT Center, a designated mission of the Presbytery of Genesee Valley that addresses poverty and justice through mission immersion experiences. Lynette is a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s national Educate a Child Roundtable, and also a founding member of Great Schools for All, a community-wide coalition seeking equity in Monroe County’s public education system

Lynette is married to Brad Sparks. They have two young adult children: Meredith, a clinical pharmacist, and Evan, a chemical engineer. She counts among her most life-changing experiences the two years she and her family lived in Singapore and traveled throughout Southeast Asia.
