I-PEAce Monthly Prayer for Israel-Palestine Begins

Prayer is something we all can do. This month your I-PEAce team (Israel-Palestine Education & Action team) is asking you to please join us for our first monthly Prayer for Israel-Palestine. This month we are praying for Doug Dicks, Iyad al-Hallaq, and for the family of George Floyd.

Doug Dicks lives in Jerusalem, serving as a mission co-worker in Israel-Palestine. The PC(USA) Mission Agency sends mission co-workers to areas of conflict around the world. Doug’s web site can be found here.

In July 2020, Doug wrote his letter to PC(USA) churches titled “Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere.” In this letter, Doug points out the relationship between the deaths of George Floyd in Minneapolis and Iyad al-Hallaq, a 32 year old autistic Palestinian man who was shot and killed by Israeli police in Jerusalem on May 30. The details of Iyad’s death are found in Doug’s letter, but he concludes by saying “in the scheme of things, both deaths [Iyad’s and George Floyd’s] speak to a world that has become, all too often, out of touch with its own humanity.”

This month we offer prayers for Doug’s continued work for peace and justice in Israel-Palestine, for the family of Iyad al-Hallaq, for the family of our own George Floyd, and for the police in Minneapolis and Jerusalem.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
