On Saturday, April 23, 2016, the Habitat for Humanity house at 70 Ries Street, Rochester, NY, was dedicated.
70 Ries Street was made possible by a partnership of Third Presbytirian Church and Mr. & Mrs. Otto Muller-Girard. Otto has been a long-time Hammer & Saw volunteer with Flower City Habitat for Humanity and celebrated 20 years with the organization in 2015.
The Robinson family is the homebuyer family for 70 Ries Street. Roberta is a long-time Sterile Processing Technician at Highland Hospital and a mother of two boys. Her goal through the Habitat program has been to build a solid foundation for her children. She grew up in the JOSANA neighborhood and feels this is the right house for her what with her existing support network near-by and children on the street for her kids to play with.
“The best part of the program has been working alongside different groups of people,” said Roberta. “Getting the education that the program offered was very helpful. I feel like with the skills that I’ve learned on the work site I will be able to maintain my home myself for years to come.”
