In March 2024, the congregation voted to restructure our governance model, in order to better reflect who we are today. We reduced the number of our Boards from three to two. Our Session is our governing body, and the work of our former Board of Trustees has been rolled into it. We halved the size of our Session to just 12 ruling elders, introducing greater nimbleness in decision-making. The Board of Deacons, with 25 serving members, remains the group charged with caring for the individual needs of the congregation, and its form and function were not changed in the restructure.

Within our new system most of the committees, task forces, and fellowship groups that reported to Session have become Ministry Teams, giving them greater flexibility and autonomy. As seen in the chart above, the teams are organized under three major headings, called Capitals, and six subheadings, called Pillars. Exceptions include those bodies mandated by the Book of Order or our own bylaws; boards (Session and Deacons) and a few special committees (Personnel, Nominating, Budget & Finance, and Generosity & Gratitude) are not ministry teams in themselves.

Now a few years out, we are continuing to live into this new structure, and to refine it as needed. It is already breathing new life into all our ministries!
