Financial Assistant

Position: Financial Assistant
Basic Function:
Reporting to the Director of Stewardship, Development and Communication, The Financial Assistant maintains
contribution records and accounts payable records of the Church.

Qualifications:
● Associate’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field
● Knowledge of and adherence to approved accounting practices
● Proficiency in Google Office Suite, Microsoft Office Suite
● Experience with Sage Intaact, Elexio Giving is helpful and a willingness to learn other computer
programs as required
● Self-Motivated and detail oriented
● Ability to communicate clearly with staff and parishioners
● Ability to cooperate and work well with others

Responsibilities:
● Enter weekly offering contributions into Elexio Giving; prepare deposit of checks received and make
deposits at bank weekly on Monday and Friday
● Attend weekly staff meeting and Meet with Bonadio Representative bi-weekly
● Act as phone and door backup to administrative assistant/receptionist
● Print end-of-month reports from Elexio Giving and reconcile amounts to the financial system reports
● Prepare and mail quarterly contribution statements for pledging members
● Value, record and acknowledge stock donations
● Maintain a spreadsheet of memorial gifts
● Receive invoices and check requests, code and obtain necessary approvals, scan documents and
enter into Bill.com for payment
● Provide financial information as requested by staff, committee members, and other church members
● Work closely with Bonadio and Third Church Treasurer in all functions of deposits, invoices, best
practices, and audit preparation
● Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll to Paychex and make changes to profiles as necessary
● Prepare monthly letters to individuals who have donated chancel flowers notifying them of the costs
incurred
● Work on special projects including EAGR (East Avenue Grocery Run) and other projects as assigned
● Track special gifts from notification through receipt including accurate reporting
● Bi-monthly call with the church treasurer and accounting partner to resolve open issues

Hours:
The is a non-exempt, full-time position at 30 hours per week. Scheduling is negotiable, but one
afternoon/evening shift is required.
