Taking Action on Climate Change
January 16, 2022 @ 8:45 am - 9:45 am
|Recurring Event (See all)
An event every week that begins at 8:45 am on Sunday, repeating until January 30, 2022

Please join us for this four-part Sunday Seminar series about climate change, the organizations that seek to combat it already at work in our area, and the actions that we as individuals and as a congregation can take to better the health of our planet. Featuring speakers Jim Tappon, Katie Rygg, Allen Hibner, and Brady Fergusson.
- January 9 – An introduction to climate change and its impacts; what, specifically, are the problems we’re seeking to address?
- January 16 – About the Rochester Area Interfaith Climate Action “Getting Started Guide,” which describes several actions that can be initiated in congregations to make climate-smart changes. Handouts and links will include contacts and connections that can provide some simple steps to create an “earthcare community” or to get involved with a local climate action team as an individual.
- January 23 – Citizens’ Climate Lobby, national- and state-level congressional lobbying on climate policies including actions that can be taken at a personal or organization level
- January 30 – Color Your Community Green, an organized effort to provide climate guidance for local community leaders (town supervisors, board members, etc).
All of these organizations (and more) provide great opportunities for members and friends of Third Church to take a more active role in supporting efforts to attack climate change in a meaningful way.
The series will be held on GoogleMeet, or by phone at 904-900-0997 with PIN: 669.
