Lenten Special Music

April 3, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:15 am

Please join us in worship for special music for Lent, when the Chancel Choir will sing the Messe Solennelle by French composer Louis Vierne (1870-1937).
Louis Vierne was a pivotal figure in the French organ school of the late 19th century and early 20th century. He was Organist at Notre-Dame de Paris, which is home to a spectacular and important organ by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. This mass is sung in Latin, and would normally be performed by two organs, one at the front, the Orgue de Choeur, and the Grand-Orgue, housed in the West Gallery of the Cathedral. We will present this work (complete), in an arrangement by the late John Scott, for one organ, brass sextet, and timpani.
As always, worship will be concurrently livestreamed on our YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
