“How to Lead” Book Discussion

July 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Even before Rebecca Segers arrived at Third Church, she hinted at a book she wanted to share with the congregation—a book that we might read together to help guide our journey as an evolving faith community. It’s How to Lead When You Don’t Know Where You’re Going: Leading in a Liminal Season, by congregational consultant and spiritual director Susan Beaumont. Both Session and the Trustees read it this fall, and found it fruitful.

Rebecca also held a one-day book discussion with about a dozen congregants in October. The conversation was deep and meaningful. But it barely tapped the book’s dimensions and the group gathered was eager for more—more time to dig deeper into the themes of the book, and more voices participating in the conversation.

As a result, we have scheduled six sessions in 2023, the third Saturday of every month from January to June, 10:00-11:30am, to discuss topics such as: God’s presence in the workings of our lives and Third Church; the “soul” of Third Church and what that means; discernment and how to engage in a process that invites God into our decision making; and more.

We look forward to listening, learning, and sharing together as we seek awareness of God’s will in our lives and the life of our beloved community of faith.
