ACT:

  • Inform our anti-racism efforts moving forward by completing Third Church’s Anti-Racism Survey here.

  • Donate to Third Church’s Food Pantry and Beyond the Sanctuary (the Food Charities of Memorial AME Zion).

  • Plug in to the RocACTS Justice System Task Force.

As you may know, Third Church is one of 21 faith communities collaborating through RocACTS’ three Task Forces working to address systemic racism, injustice and inequity throughout society. The Justice System Task Force (JSTF) was previously active as the Criminal Justice Task Force. The JSTF seeks to connect with groups within the congregations that belong to RocACTS that are working on justice issues.

The JSTF five areas of concentration are:  Legislative Initiatives, Policies and Procedures (including H.A.L.T. Solitary Confinement, bail reform, Project Exile, police reform and support for the Police Accountability Board), Research (development of position papers and open letters), Actions (press conferences, Albany lobbying days, meetings with representatives), Advocacy (supporting affected individuals and family members) and Education (getting information out to the community).

JSTF meets via Zoom on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 pm. All are welcome to attend, as well as to network with the JSTF for mutual support. For meeting links contact Kathleen FitzPatrick at zaynabkathleen@gmail.com

Also: A gentle reminder that we still need your voice to inform Third’s Anti-Racism efforts going forward if you’ve not yet taken the opportunity to submit your survey. We are especially seeking more submissions from youth. The deadline is March 15: click here to go to the survey. We’ll share the results soon after, and in advance, are grateful for your valued time and wisdom.
