Please join us for a DVD series with popular author and speaker, Amy-Jill Levine, based on her 2015 book Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi. The sessions will help us “re-read Jesus’ provocative parables” as Levine “takes us back in time and explains how original audiences understood Jesus’ parables.”
Amy-Jill Levine is a university professor of New Testament and Jewish studies and Mary Jane Werthan Professor of Jewish studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School. She is the author of numerous books including Misunderstood Jews: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus.
As we strive as a faith community to address our own biases, this series provides a timely opportunity to listen to the experiences of another historically marginalized and stigmatized people.
The series includes:
- Lost Sheep, Lost Coin, Lost Son
- The Good Samaritan
- The Pearl of Great Price
- The Mustard Seed
- The Laborers in the Vineyard
- The Widow and the Judge
