The Prophet’s Voice led by Jim Stewart – June 6 and 13

Throughout the ages, prophets have arisen who challenged the dominant powers that benefited the few and marginalized the many. In these two sessions, we will talk about the “prophetic voices” we hear in brief readings from Amos, Isaiah, and Matthew. What were their messages for their times? How do each of these messages of truth and compassion speak a critical word for us today and energize us to create a more just society?

June 13, 9:00am (please note the time change for summer schedule): The Prophet’s Voice, Part II: Matthew: A King’s Rage and a Prophet’s Grief, Reading: Matthew 2:1-20 

June 20, 9:00am: A presentation from the Third Church Anti-Racism Team featuring an overview and discussion of the RASE Commission (Commission on Racial And Structural Equity) and its RASE report recommendations, facilitated by Third Church’s own Luis Ormaechea.
