Words from the Pastor:
Going all the way back to 1827, Third Presbyterian Church has been vitally connected to the greater Rochester community. From the early nineteenth-century evangelist and antislavery activist, Charles Finney; to the almost Christian socialist pastor of the early twentieth-century, Paul Moore Strayer; to the sponsorship of Saul Alinsky and FIGHT organization in the 1960s; to the leadership of Eugene Bay in 1987 establishing us as a More Light LBGTQ+ welcoming congregation; to the leadership of John Wilkinson in the early 2000’s making us a congregation which ordained and married persons regardless of whom they loved; we have always been a missional congregation.
What we do here in stirring worship, warm fellowship, and modern Christian nurture for all ages, equips and motivates us into mission in our community, nation and world.
We are passionate about how we imitate Christ through Third Church. In a world that is otherwise fractured, we want to connect with you, and build God's beloved community together. Join us!
