As we enter the new year, family homelessness remains an invisible epidemic.  The ongoing pandemic continues to amplify the historic and current socio-economic and racial inequities woven into society. These inequities directly intensify barriers to healthcare, adequate housing, and living wage employment. Tonight in Rochester, children are sleeping on couches, in a car, or at a hotel. This reality is not sustainable – for families or for the Greater Rochester community.

NPR published a story highlighting the U.S. affordable housing crisis and the growing number of families at risk of and experiencing homelessness across the country. Among those interviewed were two single moms served by Family Promise.
