Southeast Ecumenical Ministry (SEM)Third Presbyterian Church has been a support of SEM for many years. Leadership, volunteers and money have contributed to the success of SEM. SEM is a covenant of 21 churches located in the Southeast area of Rochester. SEM is pledged to serving the elderly, disabled and poor living in this area and has been serving this area since 1969. Every year there has been an increase in the number of people served. In 2009 the Food Cupboard served 1,512 Households, 2,381 Children, 2,315 Adults and 188 Seniors and SEAFISH provided transportation for 1,488 rides. In 2005, SEM became an affiliate of Foodlink, receiving administrative assistance and serving as a model for other Food agencies. The SEM office and Food Cupboard are located at St. Paulís Episcopal Church on Westminster Rd. off East Avenue. SEMís programs include: Emergency Food ProgramA need for many in our community is a source of emergency food. Families or individuals often need assistance until their first paycheck arrives, or their aid program begins. Our Food Cupboard fills this need. Supplemental Basket ProgramThe Food Cupboard provides monthly food baskets for low income seniors and medically disabled individuals whose limited income cannot stretch far enough to provide shelter, medicine and nutritious food. Over 150 people are served each month. Half of the program is managed through the partnership with the Brighton Food Depot.
