| The Food Cupboard is an ongoing program at Third Presbyterian
Church. The Food Cupboard is open year round on Monday and
Thursday mornings from 9:30 AM - 11:45 AM. The purpose of
the program is to distribute emergency food to individuals
and families helping to fill in the gap when monthly income
does not cover all expenses. 3 or 4 volunteers serve 30-40
guests each day. Individuals can come for food
items once a month and are provided with several bags of
groceries
along with a caring environment where volunteers greet them
and listen.
The program is coordinated with FOODLINK a local surplus
food distributor. The food distributed comes both from FOODLINK
and donations from Third Presbyterian Church members. Every
Monday and Thursday,
The need for food donations is ongoing throughout the year.
There continues to be increasing demand as apartment rates
increase and food stamp supplements decrease. As cold weather
approaches, there will most likely be a number of people who
have difficulty managing limited incomes as their heating
bills increase.
How Can You Help?
Volunteer: Share your skills, talents and
time. New volunteers work with experienced workers. This
is a rewarding opportunity to meet new church
friends while helping our neighbors.
- Greet guests or pack bags of groceries 1 morning per
month (either Monday or Thursday).
- Stock Food Cupboard Shelves after church on Sundays.
Food Donations: The demand for our Food
Cupboard continues to grow and the supplies are depleted
regularly. FOODLINK provides many of our items, but we depend
on the congregation to bring the following basic items every
week: For more information,
