| In
January of 1993, AIDS Rochester at 1350 University Ave, began
a program of delivering meals to the homes of individuals
living with HIV or AIDS. These individuals were often home
bound, isolated and in need of nutritional support. The Daily
Bread program provided these individuals with not only highly
nutritious meals, but with much needed fellowship. Volunteers
from Third Church, Incarnate Word Church and others shopped,
prepared and delivered meals in the homes of those who needed
this service.

With
the advances in medicine, the need for home delivery decreased
with the result that now the Daily Bread Program serves a
congregate meal every Wednesday at the Aids/Rochester building.
Along
with a good nutritious meal, the clients experience social
interaction, receive useful information and have access to
the Aids/Rochester Food Cupboard. Some delivery of meals
is still made to clients who are too ill to come to the
center.
Third
Church supports the Daily Bread program as a part of the
Outreach program each year. A few volunteers still help to
cook and serve the Daily Bread meal each Wednesday. Other
volunteers are needed . Bob Eames, (381-0655) has volunteered
with the program since its inception, and would be happy
to talk with anyone interested in volunteering. Others are
needed.
