Liturgical Needlework

Long time member, Jean Hardy, who died in 1993, had a vision that Third Presbyterian Church have Antependia (pulpit hangings) for both the sanctuary and chapel for each of the Christian seasons - Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. Together, with many members of our congregation, this vision was realized, and the result was a wonderful collection of needlepoint.

Shown on these pages are many of the antependia that have been designed and created over the years. With many of them, beautiful bible markers were also created, whose symbols echo those in the antependia. Click Here to read the text of a 1997 Adult Education presentation by Helen Meyer.
