Choir Tour 2005Guidelines for Fundraising
Fundraising Assumptions & Principles
- The purpose of fundraising is to support our basic mission as a choir. Fundraising will be used to help pay some overall expenses for the tour and also to lower the cost for tour choir members.
- Some fundraising will be aimed at the Third Church community, but we'll try to make sure that the broader community is asked to help too (after all, we're representing the larger community). We'll also try to make sure that our fundraising events are worth the effort involved.
- Fundraising is a team effort, and we all benefit from raising as much as possible. Who knows, maybe we can have fun at the same time?
- Each of us is able to contribute in different ways and with different levels of effort. That's OK. In recognition of this, funds raised through fundraising events will be shared in proportion to how much effort we are each able to make, overall. See specifics below.
- Some funds will be raised through donations and, hopefully, through grants. These will be shared equally by tour choir members whether or not they are able to help with "fundraising".
- Donations of services are welcome -- please discuss with the Finance sub-committee.
- Also note: organizers for events are encouraged to step up! But... please remember that events need to be coordinated through Finance.
- We consider the Choir's Librarian to be an essential member of the Tour Choir; she's eligible to participate in fundraising and receive cost reductions.
A few specifics about sharing
- Tour Choir members will get credit for how much they support each event. After each event, the Finance sub-committee will provide a simple means for each person to self-report their effort and earn "fundraising points". Our aim will be to be simple, yet fair.
- When we're done, Tour Choir members will share in the overall funds raised through events, in proportion to their cumulative "fundraising points".
- How much is a "fundraising point" worth? We won't really know until we're done, but we do know that the more we all work, the more we'll earn for ourselves, and for the choir as a whole!
