Mardi Gras Celebration 2002

< Previous
Mardi Gras is a long-standing tradition at Third Church, celebrating the last day before the start of Lent. Mardi Gras in French means "Fat Tuesday", a name which historically marks a last day when shortening could be used in cooking, so people would use up their remaining shortening by feasting on pancakes.

This year, we had a special visit from the Bubble Man, who did some pretty amazing things with bubbles! The Meigs Street Ramblers entertained us with their splendid music, the kitchen crew fed us some wonderful pancakes, and many of us got our faces painted!
