Third Presbyterian Church
Church School Handbook

Dear Parents of Third Presbyterian Church School Students:

Welcome to Church School at Third! Your children are important to us and we want this church school experience to be one that is positive for both you and your child(ren). This booklet has been prepared to keep you informed of our educational goals for each class. We have also included information, such as maps, so that you will feel comfortable in finding your way around our education building.

Our church school begins after the children's message in the worship service (at approximately 11:00 AM). Children in Junior Choir leave with the choir and then proceed on to their classrooms. Younger children may be escorted to their classroom by adults who are with them in the sanctuary. Church school concludes at 12:00 PM unless otherwise noted. Children in the nursery may be collected at any time.

With the approval of Session, we are using the Presbyterian endorsed curriculum, Bible Quest. The theme for this year is, “God is Savior: Salvation”.

This year, we will continue with Church School Chapel three times a year. It involves the entire church school gathering in the chapel to share in a worship service during the church school hour. Becky D’Angelo-Veitch, Aaron Doll and Chris Lenti work together to choose a theme, and then each class prepares one aspect of worship. Parents are always welcome at church school chapel services. This year, they will be held on November 16, March 7 and May 23. In addition, we will be inviting children to join us in the sanctuary on certain communion Sundays (you should have received a letter about this in the late summer. You may contact Becky D’Angelo-Veitch for more information or with any questions).

You are welcome in your child's classroom at any time. In fact, many teachers will ask for parents to sign up as parent helpers. For many of our classes due to age, class size or number of teachers, (i>parent volunteers play a vital role.

We hope that this guidebook will help you feel informed about your child's participation in the programs here at Third. Please feel free to contact any member of the children's ministry committee or the Children’s Ministry Coordinator with any questions or concerns.
