Board of Deacons 
2006 Annual Report

The current members of the Board of Deacons are an enthusiastic, dedicated, caring group who willingly volunteer to help the members of the congregation whenever and however they are needed.  We have been blessed with the able leadership of Deborah Hughes, Interim Associate Pastor for Congregational Care and Pamela Foye, Parish Visitor.  They guide us to the people who are in need of God’s compassion and care.

   In addition to our weekly delivery of chancel flowers to our hospitalized members (coordinated by Helen Tiss) and our weekly hosting of coffee hour following the service (coordinated by Anne Sievers), here are some highlights of our on-going work:  

*Deacon’s Bench – written for the Messenger by Hope Herting

*Friendship Freezer – coordinated by Susan Fox

*Poinsettia and Lily Delivery to over 50 of our homebound church family – coordinated by Helen Tiss

*Heritage Luncheon – attended by over 75 of our eldest members

*Brunch for graduating high school seniors in May – coordinated by Hope Herting

*Care packages to college freshmen in November – coordinated by Hope Herting

*Memorial Service Receptions – coordinated by Rob White

*Prayer Cordon – coordinated by Evelyn Roland

*Pastoral Care Luncheon in November on Alzheimer’s/Dementia

*Afternoon tea at Cloverwood in May – coordinated by Betsey Wheeler

*Afternoon tea at Valley Manor in September – coordinated by Joanne Anderson

*Monthly song fests at Valley Manor – coordinated by Joanne Anderson

*Deacon brochures and “Know your Deacon” picture postcards mailed to every member

*Nominating Committee Representative – Anne Sievers

*In-service training by Deborah Hughes on a monthly basis

*Peanut butter supplied for the food cupboard regularly  

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve with such a compassionate and willing group of people.
